Healthcare
The Commonwealth Fund regularly ranks healthcare around the world. The United States has come in last 2006, 2007, 2010, 2014, 2017 and 2021.
Dad Evidence:
Dad was admitted to hospital 9/6/2024. This flew. He was diagnosed and then into Chemo a week later. The day he went in for his bone marrow biopsy was the day he was supposed to finally get to have a therapy appointment. Never received that Therapy, and no effort to try to help get one after a cancer diagnosis. I can't think of how to better illustrate the importance of mental health.... Didn't seem to be anyone in the hospital that offered any counseling either, but I did ask multiple departments (front desk, activities coordinator, nurses, drs, etc). He was trapped in a hospital with cancer, getting chemo... how is there not an on-site counselor?! My general doctor had suggested that I ask about counseling for the family/cancer when I got to the hospital. he assured me there were services available, nope.
Push! We don't know if this is even going to work, but it will nearly kill you and make you feel awful, let's go!
Why isn't there a way to test Chemo on a cancer in vitro? Dad was released from the hospital on 9/26/2024 into hospice. He wasn't able to receive his medications until 9/30/2024. The hospital was aware they were releasing him into the care of hospice and it was known that a terrible storm was coming. It took 6 hours to check out of the hospital, but they weren't able to fill prescriptions during that time for some reason. So, after they tried to kill him with Chemo that didn't work, they released him to home at the most immunocompromised state he's ever been in with no medications and a storm on the horizon.
The Prescriptions were sent to Ingles in Landrum which got knocked off from power and didn't have generators for the storm. because this was filled it was difficult having it transferred. Does not help having cell towers down, roads closed, internet out, and no power (unless you had a generator).
Not to mention the diverticulum that has been ailing dad for decades was finally found at Atrium Wake Forrest hospital in Winston-Salem, I'm not sure how every doctor up until now has missed this. We suffer so much because of fear of the cost and then they can't even find it when we are hemorrhaging money trying to. He'd been seeing doctors since he moved from Texas trying to find the root cause of this issue. Even had a GI surgery to remove an adhesion within his intestines. How did they miss this leaky inflamed diverticulum when they were in there?!
Personal experience:
Been having gut issues since the TUV SUD job, That ended in 2020. I know I was starting to feel bad before 2020, but it's been pretty constant in feeling bad since 2020. Have had some pretty invasive procedures but no one had even checked all my blood work yet. so here we are in 2024, finally a doctor that did bloodwork and I've identified an "off the chart" hormone imbalance.
I've seen a few white papers that have tied some hormone imbalances to weird gut stuff. Trying to get an MRI (to check for brain tumor that could be causing this hormone to secrete) but the first lab that my Dr sent the MRI request to is not in-network. after much calling around I found one that was and have been trying to get the order sent over. They keep sending it to the same clinic. I emailed them again yesterday and they said that the clinical staff was still trying to get switched over. I don't understand why this is so hard, or why there are so many in and out of network providers. The clinic I found is going to require prior authorization from the clinicals to show that it's even warranted to be covered by insurance. So, there's going to be delays there too. Good thing healthcare isn't very important... -Go Team America
Why is healthcare for profit, again?
